I am so excited and honored to be attending the Shorty Awards tonight to represent @DoWhatITellYou, a llama who lives in the computer and tells people what to do on Twitter. You can check out his Shorty Interview here.
Basically, New York City is really behind the times and won't allow llamas at awards ceremonies without a special permit, so he asked me to go in his place -- and gave me his speech. @DoWhatITellYou is nominated for the Weird category, and I sure hope he wins!
I'll be there tonight with my new fiance Mr. Cleveland, who proposed on Sunday at the airport when I got back from Europe. You can watch the whole Shorty Awards shebang live below at 7:30 PM.

I would love to ask you questions about traveling with a nut allergy. My six-year-old has a peanut allergy, and we are trying to figure out how to eat in Chinatown, much less China. Would love to hear what you do. skollingperin@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon,
ReplyDeleteMy nut allergy isn't that severe, but I was recently on a trip with a travel writer whose is. I will ask her if she's got any tips for you and e-mail you. From what I hear, you can totally do China -- but probably want to stay away from Taiwan.
Best wishes,
Annie
The Llama got 282 votes to David McDonald's 498 in the Weird category. Does the llama feel it won a hollow victory, seeing as how it didn't really win? (according to the Shorty Awrds' own webpage here: http://mi.o2.ie/shortyawards.com/category/weird)
ReplyDeleteAnother page showing David McDonald as the winner...

Do you know why this is happening, why The Llama was verbally named the winner when the Awards pages say David McDonald was the winner? Good.
Hey Anonymous, that page hasn't been updated. It says DM was 1st in line, votes-wise, not the winner. If Shorty keeps their design in line with their front page, the llama will soon appear in that winner box at the top.
ReplyDeleteAnnie, I didn't mean to offend you (or the llama you represent). But why the heck hasn't the Shorty Awards page been updated? Do they only update their website code 140 characters at a time?
